Greece wildfires scorch areas near Nea Triglia and Porto Germeno
A wildfire broke out in low‑vegetation areas near the scattered homes of Nea Triglia in Chalkidiki. The fire, reported on the morning of 3 August 2026, was not immediately threatening residences, but firefighters kept a watchful presence. About 20 firefighters with 10 fire engines were deployed to contain the blaze.
In the nearby coastal settlement of Porto Germeno, a separate fire burned trees and vegetation, leaving a landscape of ash and damage. Residents began assessing the destruction, and local authorities focused on restoration and preventive measures to avoid future incidents.
