Greek university admission bases rise for engineering, fall for economics after 2026 exams

The 2026 Panhellenic Exams results were released, showing that 89,032 candidates will compete for nearly 69,000 university places in Greece. The Ministry of Education published the Minimum Admission Bases (EBE) for each scientific field: Humanities 8.9, Positive & Technological 10.48, Health 9.84, and Economics & Informatics 8.25.

Analysts predict a strong upward pressure on the bases for Polytechnic (engineering) and medical schools, driven by a tripling of top scores (18‑20) in Physics. Health‑related programmes are expected to see a modest increase, while the bases for Humanities, Law and Social Sciences are projected to slip slightly. The most pronounced decline is forecast for Economics, Accounting, Finance and many Informatics programmes due to lower performance in Economics.

Because the EBE acts as a floor, more than 10,000 university seats are likely to remain vacant. Candidates must now complete the electronic registration (Mihchanografiko) by obtaining a personal security code before the deadline at the end of June.
