Greece's DYPA employment reports face transparency criticism
The Panhellenic Association of OAED Employees (PANSYPO) has raised serious concerns regarding the transparency and effectiveness of the Public Employment Service (DYPA) reports covering the period from 2019 to 2026.
While official data indicates 300,643 beneficiaries and over 700,000 training program completions, PANSYPO argues that critical information is missing. Specifically, the reports fail to clarify how many participants secured permanent employment, the types of contracts obtained, or the actual salaries earned. The union highlights that nearly half of the 52,855 positions reported in 2024 were merely agreements for gaining work experience rather than standard employment.
Furthermore, the union noted a lack of data regarding the long-term sustainability of companies created through entrepreneurship programs. Concerns were also raised regarding long-term unemployed individuals, who make up 55% of registrants—primarily women and those over 55—yet occupy only 30% of available program positions. PANSYPO is calling for a comprehensive evaluation to determine the true economic impact and effectiveness of these state-funded initiatives.
