Greece's E65 highway Kalabaka‑Grevena segment to open July

Greek Infrastructure and Transport Minister Christos Dimas inspected the 46‑kilometre northern segment of the E65 highway that runs from Kalabaka to Grevena. He said the work is almost finished, with only minor technical tasks remaining, and the segment is slated to be handed over to traffic by the end of July.

The new section completes the E65, a strategic road linking the PATHE corridor with the Egnatia Odos, improving travel between Central Greece, Western Macedonia and Epirus. Bridges, tunnels and interchanges have been built to handle the mountainous terrain. The project, funded with €452 million from the EU Recovery and Resilience Fund, follows the already‑operational Lamia‑Kalabaka stretch.

Officials expect the highway to strengthen regional connectivity and boost the local economy, trade and tourism once fully opened.
