Greece's mandatory elevator inventory deadline expires June 30, 2026

The deadline for completing the compulsory registration of all elevators in Greece ends on Monday, 30 June 2026, with no further extensions permitted. The Ministry of Development, through the General Secretariat of Industry, requires owners, managers, or legal representatives of buildings – including residential blocks, office towers, hotels, supermarkets, mixed‑use complexes and others – to submit each elevator’s details on the online platform elevator.mindev.gov.gr using their Taxisnet credentials.

From 1 July, the Independent Market Surveillance Authority will begin inspections nationwide. Elevators that remain unregistered will be unable to receive lawful maintenance, and owners will face administrative fines per unit: €1,000 for residential buildings, €500 for commercial or mixed‑use premises, and €5,000 for structures open to the public. The register will assign a unique identification number that must appear on maintenance documents, forming the basis for future safety oversight and risk prevention.

The initiative aims to create Greece’s first comprehensive, digital catalogue of elevators to support targeted supervision, hazard mitigation and improved operational safety across the country.
