Greece’s summer sales begin July 13 and run through August 31
Retailers in Greece will start the summer discount period on Monday, July 13, 2026, with sales lasting until August 31. Stores, malls and outlets are scheduled to be open on the first Sunday of the sales, July 19, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The current retail framework requires businesses to display both the original and reduced prices clearly. The reference price is the lowest price at which the product sold in the previous 30 days (or 10 days for items on the market less than a month). While showing a discount percentage such as “‑50%” is optional, it must be clear when used. If more than 60 % of a store’s items are discounted, the percentage must be shown on the window, and ranges (e.g., “15‑45%”) must be indicated when different categories vary.
Consumers are urged to distinguish “discounts” – typically current‑season goods – from “offers”, which often involve older‑season items with deeper cuts. Offers must list the original and final price, not necessarily the percentage, and may have stricter rules on price changes.
