Greece's Viber aims for super‑app status as Vodafone records top network gains

Viber is positioning Greece as a core market for its transformation into a super‑app, investing in artificial‑intelligence features, payments and digital services. The company plans to multiply average revenue per user tenfold by 2030, leveraging a partnership with OpenAI to integrate generative AI, expanding Viber Pay and eSIM services, and targeting thousands of SMEs that already use the platform.

Vodafone Greece reported the strongest mobile‑network improvement since 2023, according to umlaut measurements for 2026. The operator led performance in Athens, Heraklion and Patras, with gains across voice, data and reliability metrics. Vodafone invested €250 million in next‑generation infrastructure during the 2025‑2026 fiscal year, raising 5G coverage to 96% of the population and extending fiber‑to‑the‑home connections to over 550,000 premises.
