Greek €150 per‑child emergency allowance rolls out to families

The Greek government has launched an emergency child allowance of €150 for each dependent child, covering both minors and adult dependents. The measure targets 974,892 families, with an estimated fiscal cost of €240.1 million. Payments are made automatically to the bank account linked to the taxpayer’s AADE record; no application is required, but electronic checks verify eligibility.

Eligibility is based on the 2024 income tax return (valid through May 2026). Families with total income up to €40,000 (or €39,000 for single‑parent households) qualify, with the threshold increasing by €5,000 for each additional child. Separate tax filings affect how the allowance is split: joint filers receive the full amount in one account, while spouses filing separately split the sum according to which parent claims each child. Newborns from 2025 onward will receive a second disbursement by the end of August, provided they are included in the appropriate tax return and, for children born between January 2025 and July 2026, have an AFM issued by 10 August 2026.
