Greek “Ανακαινίζω 2026” housing scheme hit by platform failures

Citizens applying for the Greek “Ανακαινίζω 2026” programme report widespread technical problems with the online system that issues eligibility certificates. The platform is said to suffer chronic delays, software errors and an inability to load data, preventing many from completing their applications.

Applicants note that not all properties they own appear in the system, with some listings limited to a primary residence or showing only rental or guest‑house status. In several cases, eligibility certificates have been issued for properties that do not belong to the applicant. Families also claim that information about protected children is missing, which could affect assessment.

Professional groups such as sole‑proprietorships and farmers report being classified incorrectly. Some users who meet the income criteria are shown as ineligible. Those who submitted applications before the 2025 tax filing deadline cannot re‑submit corrected forms. Contact attempts with the support email and phone line have yielded no response.

The issues appear linked to data exchanges between the tax authority (AADE) and the electricity provider (DEDDE), resulting in many vacant homes—especially those with discontinued electricity service or still registered to former owners—being absent from the platform. The complaints suggest a large‑scale problem that could unjustly exclude thousands of beneficiaries from a scheme intended to revitalise empty homes. Applicants are demanding immediate investigation, correction of the system, public information on the errors, and an extension of the submission deadline.
