Greek authorities seize Turkish national with drugs, weapons and taser at Alexandroupoli port
Police from the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit of the Central Port Authority in Alexandroupoli arrested a 45‑year‑old Turkish citizen during a routine inspection of the passenger terminal. The detainee was found carrying a nylon package containing 0.13 g of raw cannabis, a plastic pack with 5.04 g of processed cannabis, fifteen Xanax tablets and two half tablets, twelve half tablets of Lexotanil, hand‑rolled cigarettes mixed with 1.12 g of cannabis, a 39 cm “Glock” replica rod, a 40 cm metal baton, a 5,000 kV taser, two folding knives and a tear‑gas spray. The items were confiscated and the suspect placed under pre‑investigation by the Central Port Office.
The seizure is under Greece’s Law 4139/2013 on narcotic substances and Law 2168/1993 on weapons, as reported on 27 June 2026.
