Greece retail turnover rises 2.8% in Q2 2026
According to data from ELSTAT, Greek retail turnover increased by 2.8% in the second quarter of 2026, reaching approximately 20.17 billion euros compared to 19.62 billion euros in the same period of 2025. When excluding the vehicle, food, and fuel sectors, turnover grew by 1.2%. The highest growth rates were observed in the retail of second-hand goods (22.8%) and medical/orthopedic equipment (21.6%), while the sale of other non-motorized vehicles saw a decline of 14.8%.
On a broader economic scale, total business turnover in Greece rose by 6.4% to 135.8 billion euros in Q2 2026. Significant sector-specific growth was noted in Education (27%) and Manufacturing (16%).
In the financial markets, the Athens Stock Exchange's General Index closed up 0.23% at 2,599.44 points. Notable performers included Optima Bank (+5.34%), CrediaBank (+3.49%), and GEK TERNAs (+2.70%), while Viohalco and Coca Cola HBC experienced declines.
