Greek Coast Advises Against Swimming at 29 Contaminated Beaches

The Greek Ministry of Environment published a list of 29 beaches in the Attica region where water quality tests showed high bacterial levels, prompting authorities to recommend that locals and tourists avoid swimming there. The most polluted sites include areas near Porto Rafi, Piraeus and Paleo Faliron.

In Bulgaria, National Commission on Water Rescue chairman Dimitar Dimitrov urged stricter enforcement of safety rules for public pools after a child drowned at a summer camp in Aheloy. He emphasized that all public swimming facilities must have lifeguards and a medical post, and called for higher fines and clearer responsibilities for regional health inspections.
