Greek Consumer Authority Seizes Over 15,000 Counterfeit Items in Chalkidiki, Imposes €220,000 Fines

The Independent Authority for Market and Consumer Protection carried out targeted inspections in the Chalkidiki coastal region from 23 to 25 June. Inspectors confiscated and destroyed 15,282 counterfeit products, mainly clothing and accessories, and levied administrative fines totaling €208,250 for those violations.

The operation also uncovered 16 breaches by beach‑side hospitality businesses, chiefly the failure to display price lists, resulting in additional fines of €13,500. Across recent checks in beaches of Attica, Corinthia and Chalkidiki, 33 violations were recorded and a further €27,500 in fines imposed. The Authority says inspections will continue with heightened intensity to curb illicit trade and protect consumers.
