Greek cultural festivals announce upcoming programs

The Ithaka Theatre Festival returns for its fifth consecutive year from September 18 to 26, 2026. Under the artistic direction of Kostas Gakis and Athina Arseni, the festival's theme, ‘Landscape – Body’, explores the relationship between physical space and human narrative. The program includes daily workshops, educational activities, and professional theatrical performances from across Greece. A central feature is the Theatre Duets Competition, where ten teams will perform original works inspired by the Odyssey to compete for a cash prize.

In Athens, the ‘In the Shadow of the Rocks’ festival, co-organized by the municipalities of Vyronas and Dafni–Ymmitos, continues its season from August 31 to September 6. The program features diverse cultural events, including a musical performance by Marios Fragkoulis, who will present new Greek songs alongside international repertoire, accompanied by Konstantinos Giourtsidis and curated by Paraskevi Karasoulou.
