Greek Defence Ministry Announces 2026 G' ESSO Army Recruitment Dates and Requirements

The Greek Ministry of National Defence, through the General Staff of the Army, has published the schedule and documentation needed for the 2026 G' ESSO (third-year conscription) classification of new recruits to the Army. Presentation appointments are set for 31 August to 4 September 2026 for most conscripts, with additional sessions on 20‑21 August and 24‑28 August for those whose classification was postponed for health reasons.

Eligibility covers: • Class 2029 – individuals born in 2008 between 1 January and 15 May. • Class 2028 – individuals born in 2007 registered in the prefectures of Aetolia‑Acarnania, Boeotia, Evros, Imathia, Larissa, Pieria, and Florina, plus municipalities of Eastern Attica. • Classes 2003‑2028 – individuals born between 1982 and 2007 from all prefectures, provided the reasons for their duty obligation arose between 1 February and 30 April 2026.

Required documents include a police ID card, classification note, personal medical record, tax‑identification number (AFM), social‑security number (AMKA), a chest X‑ray with a radiologist’s report, and a negative rapid COVID‑19 test taken within 48 hours before the appointment. Additional items such as bank account details (IBAN) and blood‑group certification may also be required. Chest X‑rays are provided free of charge at public or military hospitals upon presentation of the classification note.
