Greek 2026 G'ESSO conscription rollout
Entities: Greek Army · General Staff of the Army (G.E.S.) · Ministry of National Defence (Greece)
Overview
In late July 2026 the Greek Ministry of National Defence began issuing detailed enlistment instructions for the third‑year conscription (G' ESSO) scheme. On 22 July the General Staff of the Navy announced the dates, eligibility criteria and required documentation for naval conscripts, including birth‑date brackets for the 2028 and 2029 classes and procedures for health‑postponed candidates. Applicants were told to report on 1 September 2026 at the KEN Aulona centre, or on 31 August at the Naval Hospital in Piraeus if health‑related, and to submit tax IDs, social security numbers, bank IBANs and a recent negative COVID‑19 antigen test.
A week later, on 30 July, the Army’s General Staff released its own schedule for the same G' ESSO cohort. Presentation appointments were set mainly between 31 August and 4 September 2026, with additional slots for health‑postponed conscripts in late August. The Army’s notice expanded the list of eligible prefectures and reiterated birth‑date criteria, while adding a police ID card, classification note, medical record, chest X‑ray and similar COVID‑19 test requirements. Both branches emphasized electronic delivery of enlistment notices via the taxisnet portal and the need for bank details for salary payments.
