Greece Defense Minister outlines integrated defense strategy

Greek Defense Minister Nikos Dendias has outlined a strategic vision to develop an integrated defense system by the end of the 2030s. This approach aims to combine advanced technology, human resources, domestic production, and operational planning rather than simply acquiring new weaponry.

Dendias highlighted Greece's active role as a security provider through various international operations. These include the ‘Aspides’ mission in the Red Sea to protect maritime freedom, the ‘Irini’ operation supporting the Libyan arms embargo, and long-standing contributions to Lebanon via UNIFIL. He also noted Greek participation in peacekeeping missions in Kosovo and Bosnia-Herzegovina, as well as air surveillance duties in North Macedonia and Montenegro.

Furthermore, the Minister emphasized the operational value of Greek Patriot artillery units stationed in Saudi Arabia for protecting energy infrastructure. He also referenced recent security contributions to Cyprus and the strategic importance of Alexandroupoli within the Western security architecture.
