Greek education updates: high school placements released and North Aegean school wins Alan Turing competition

The Ministry of Education announced the allocation results for General Lyceums (GEL) for the 2026‑27 school year. Thousands of students can view their assigned schools via the e‑Registration platform using their TaxisNet credentials. The first phase of electronic applications has closed, and the ministry set deadline periods for submitting supporting documents, notably July 15‑21 for students from foreign Greek schools, second‑chance schools, and those with incomplete applications. A second registration phase for exceptional cases is scheduled for September.

In a separate achievement, the Gymnasium of Plomari secured first place in the North Aegean region at the national Alan Turing Mathematics Logic and Computational Thinking competition. The girls’ team advanced to the semi‑finals held in Patras, representing Lesbos and the broader North Aegean. Their participation was fully funded by a sponsorship from Porto Plomari Hotel, highlighting local community support for education.
