Greek EFET recalls salad after Listeria detection

The Greek Food Safety Authority (EFET) ordered the immediate withdrawal of a specific batch of “Maroulia” mixed salad after laboratory tests in Thessaloniki detected the pathogen Listeria monocytogenes. The sampled batch (L/2614625) contained romaine, butterhead and escarole lettuce and was produced and packaged by Barmpa Stathis M.A.V.E.E. in Thessaloniki. The product, dated for consumption until 03 June 2026, was found to be contaminated during EFET’s Official Control programme for microbiological safety.

EFET urged all consumers who purchased the affected batch not to eat it and said further inspections are underway to ensure safety of related products.
