Greek farmers face EU funding cuts, says SYRIZA MP

SYRIZA MP Haris Mamoulakis accused the European Union of delivering a “0‑5 score” for Greek agriculture, claiming that successive EU decisions have resulted in severe funding cuts. He highlighted the freezing of a €300 million support package for organic farming, a loss of roughly €25 million for the OEF, and the imposition of EU fiscal corrections for perceived oversight failures. Mamoulakis noted that only half of a €400 million investment programme has reached beneficiaries, while the remaining funds are unaccounted for. He also warned that the EU‑funded 2026 wine‑promotion campaign has been cancelled, further limiting export opportunities. The MP blamed the current government for failing to secure the promised resources and warned that these setbacks jeopardise the livelihoods of thousands of Greek farmers.
