Greece agricultural subsidies face crisis due to OSDE platform failures
The 2026 OSDE agricultural subsidy declaration process in Greece is facing a critical deadlock due to severe technical failures within the myAGRO digital platform. Despite the official launch on August 4, 2026, reports indicate that fewer than 500 applications have been finalized out of an estimated 600,000 annual applicants, representing a completion rate of less than 0.1%.
Agricultural producers, particularly in Crete, and Declaration Reception Centers (KYD) have warned of an imminent loss of subsidies and sectoral programs. Technical issues include platform malfunctions, difficulties with electronic leases, and a lack of synchronization with the Land Registry and other public databases. These obstacles threaten the liquidity of the primary sector, as the critical September 15 deadline approaches.
Political opposition, led by PASOK, has criticized the government for the delay and the resulting 'two-speed' payment system. Under current AADE regulations, those who submit applications by September 15 may receive advances by late October, while those submitting between September 16 and October 16 will face delays until late November. Stakeholders are calling for an extension of the declaration period until the end of the year to ensure all farmers can access their rightful support.
