Greek Finance Minister Kyriakos Pierrakas Announces Four‑Year Economic Plan with Tax Relief

Finance Minister Kyriakos Pierrakas said the government will unveil a four‑year economic programme at the International Thessaloniki Fair next month. The plan, coordinated with Deputy Finance Minister Thanos Petralias, targets a €1.5 trillion package that includes major tax reforms for freelancers and small‑medium enterprises, a reduction of advance tax payments and other fiscal adjustments while preserving the core of the existing tax system that has generated over €500 million for the state.

The programme also earmarks about €850 million for 2026 to cushion households from rising energy costs, continues fuel subsidies and aims to boost wages, support retirees, farmers and entrepreneurs. Pierrakas stressed that the measures form a coherent, long‑term strategy rather than a one‑off set of actions, intended to protect disposable income and sustain economic growth ahead of the 2027 national elections.
