Greek folk band The Chaínes headline Attica Roots Festival in Athens

The Chaínes performed to a packed audience at Platia Kotzia in central Athens as part of the Attica Roots Festival, a cultural event organized by the Attica region. The concert featured a blend of Cretan traditional music and contemporary sounds, with instruments such as the Cretan lyra, laouto, mandolin, bouzouki, trumpet and flugelhorn. Hundreds of spectators gathered to hear a set that included classics like “Ορφέας”, “7 Ποτάμια”, “Τίγρης” and “Χαΐνης”, and to experience the band’s poetic lyrics and energetic stage presence.<br><br>The performance highlighted the group's long‑standing fusion of Crete’s musical heritage with modern influences, showcasing members Demetris Apostolakis (lyra, vocals), Demetris Zacharioudakis (guitar, vocals), Giorgos Konstantinos (bass), Michalis Galanis (drums), Michalis Nikolaopoulos (multiple folk instruments, vocals), Peter Jacques (trumpet, flugelhorn, clarinet, ney) and Aggeliki Syrkou (vocals). The event reinforced the Attica Roots Festival’s role in promoting folk traditions for new generations.
