Greek Football Federation grants Cup and Super Cup TV rights to SKAI

The Hellenic Football Federation (EPO) approved a three‑year agreement that transfers the television broadcast rights for the Greek Cup and the Super Cup to the channel SKAI, owned by Giannis Alafouzos. The deal is valued at more than €13 million through 2029, including €8.34 million for broadcast rights and roughly €5 million from naming‑rights sponsorship with betting firm Superbet. The agreement also introduces competition changes, such as compulsory participation of two Greek players born in 2004 and a reduction of teams in the league phase from 20 to 16.

Olympiacos vice‑president Dimitris Agrafiotis publicly criticised the decision, telling the EPO executive committee that he would “never vote to give the Cup to a channel that systematically fights my team.” He described SKAI’s long‑standing hostility toward Olympiacos and warned that the move creates “an unsolvable problem” for the tournament.

The arrangement is expected to boost EPO’s revenues while sparking controversy among clubs opposed to the new broadcaster.
