SKAI expands sports rights and presenter lineup

Overview

In June 2026, the Hellenic Football Federation awarded SKAI the broadcast and naming rights to the Greek Cup and Super Cup for 2026–29, a deal worth over €13 million backed by Superbet. This move is projected to raise federation revenues by almost 300% and introduces format changes, such as the mandatory participation of two 2004-born Greek players; Olympiacos vice-president Dimitris Agrafiotis criticised the decision. During the same period, SKAI secured the Greek Basket League TV rights in a 2+1-year contract valued at approximately €25 million, with €21 million earmarked for direct club distribution, replacing the public broadcaster ERT. A presenter reshuffle followed the end of veteran Kostas Tsouros’ contract on 28 June. On 3 August, SKAI launched a new daily midday programme, “Studio stis 3”, featuring Nansi Zampetoglou and Thanasis Anagnostopoulos. Moving from their successful “Studio 4” slot at ERT1, the duo retains their familiar studio couch and production team to provide “dynamic, authentic discussions on broad public-interest topics”. On 31 August, the duo premiered the program with guest Takis Zacharatos, who became visibly emotional while discussing the passing of singer Marinella. Early viewership for “Studio stis 3” has remained steady, recording approximately 10% of the audience in late August and early September. During a broadcast, actor Lakis Lazopoulos commented on the hosts' move, expressing relief regarding their departure from ERT. Further expanding its lineup, journalist Stavros Theodorakis is joining the SKAI media group after five years at ALPHA, bringing his programme ‘Protagonistes’ to the network. Earlier programming shifts included the departure of Giannis Pittaras from the morning show “Dekatianoi” on 26 July. New segments “Morning Information” and “ONLINE” launched on 27 July. Additionally, journalist Apostolos Maggiaridis officially announced his departure from ERT after four years, following his recent addition to the SKAI midday news.
