The Central Committee for State Aid (ΚΕΚΑ) approved €8.65 million for the municipalities of the Magnesia and Sporades regional unit, part of a total €25.71 million funding package for the Thessaly region. The allocation was announced during a meeting between representatives of Thessaly chambers of commerce and Deputy Minister for Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Kostas Katsafados.
In addition to the €8.65 million, the package includes €6 million for the broader Thessaly region, €4 million for Trikala, €3.76 million for Larissa, and €3.3 million for Karditsa. The programme "Thessaly Pass" was re‑activated with an extra €1.5 million to boost local economic activity. Officials reported that 4,724 businesses have received final compensation decisions, covering about 80 % of eligible claimants, with completion rates of 88 % in Larissa, 82 % in Trikala, 79 % in Magnesia and 77 % in Karditsa. The progress is expected to aid the economic recovery of flood‑hit areas in Thessaly.
