Greek government allocates over €67m to farmers hit by 2023‑24 fires and floods

The Ministry of Rural Development and Food announced a new round of state support for agricultural producers damaged by extreme weather in 2023 and 2024. More than €67 million will be paid through ELGA under the Special Programme for Natural Disasters of the Public Investment Development Programme.

The allocations are broken down as follows: €35 million for September 2023 floods; €16 million for 2024 wildfires; €14 million for the major 2023 fires affecting Evros, Rhodes, Attica, Achaea, Euboea, Corfu, Corinthia, Magnesia and other areas; €1.5 million for fires in 2023 in Fthiotida and Kavala; and €650 thousand for July‑August 2023 fires in Attica, Boeotia, Fthiotida and Magnesia. The aid is tax‑free, non‑seizable and will not be offset against public debts.
