Greek Agriculture Ministry Removes Tax Docs Requirement for Young Farmers
Greece's Ministry of Agricultural Development and Food (ΥΠΑΑΤ) has approved an amendment, incorporated into a draft law of the Ministry of Justice that is being voted on in Parliament. The change exempts about 24,000 young farmers—beneficiaries of Intervention P3‑75.1 “Installation of Young Farmers” under the 2023‑2027 Common Agricultural Policy and Sub‑measure 6.1 “Installation of New Farmers” from the 2014‑2022 programme—from having to submit proof of tax and social‑security registration to receive their subsidies.
The subsidies are described as non‑seizable, non‑reimbursable and not subject to withholding, so the state gains no fiscal benefit from the exemption. The reform is intended to remove an administrative obstacle, speed up payments, provide immediate liquidity, facilitate the implementation of business plans and ensure the full absorption of available EU funds, as part of a broader effort to simplify procedures and support the primary sector.
