Greece launches €70 smartphone voucher for citizens with disabilities
The Greek government approved a program that will provide a voucher of up to €70 toward the purchase of a smartphone for people whose disability rating exceeds 67%. The subsidy will be applied directly at the point of sale, with the voucher amount deducted automatically when the device is bought from official mobile‑phone operators or participating retailers.
Eligibility will be verified digitally through existing public registries, eliminating the need for paper documents. Eligible devices must meet specific accessibility criteria, such as screen‑reading capability, amplified sound, large tactile keys and visual or vibration alerts. The scheme also includes low‑cost supplementary equipment such as hearing‑aid compatible Bluetooth devices.
The programme was published in the government gazette in February and an online application platform is slated to open in November 2026, allowing qualified applicants to submit their requests electronically.
