Greek government raises agricultural road and irrigation funding
The Greek Parliament approved a further increase in the budget for the P3‑73‑1 agricultural road improvement programme, bringing the national allocation to €242 million. In the region of Messinia, the increment adds €7.07 million for 13 road projects, including works in the municipalities of Ονιχαλία, Τριφυλία, Πύλος‑Νέστορος and Μεσσήνη, aimed at lowering production costs and improving farm access.
Separately, the Ministry of Rural Development and Food announced a new €80 million call for irrigation and water‑storage projects under the same strategic plan. Co‑financed by the EU Agricultural Fund for Rural Development and the Greek state, the programme will fund modernisation of irrigation networks, water‑saving technologies and renewable‑energy‑linked infrastructure. Eligibility is limited to regions and municipalities that can demonstrate technical and administrative capacity, with a maximum grant of €2.2 million per project.
