Greek Health Minister reports improvements to island healthcare

Greek Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis highlighted improvements in the National Health System (ESY) across the Greek islands following positive feedback regarding the Kos General Hospital.

The announcement followed a letter from the Deputy Consul of the British Consulate in Rhodes to the hospital's administrator, Mr. Fanios. During a meeting with representatives from the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA) on August 18, 2026, positive comments were received regarding the hospital's operations during the current tourist season. Specifically, stakeholders noted an increase in medical staff and improved management of incidents.

Georgiadis stated that when he took office in January 2024, the Kos hospital was facing significant issues, but recent interventions have led to a visible improvement in healthcare coverage for the islands.
