Greek Health Ministry outlines EKAB Loggia station and health‑care boost in Eastern Peloponnese

The Greek Ministry of Health answered parliamentary questions concerning the EKAB (Emergency Medical Services) station in Loggia, Eastern Peloponnese. The ministry said the regional unit of Messenia is served operationally by the EKAB sectors of Kalamata, Filiatra and Pylos, and that the Loggia area, covering the coastal strip of Petalidi, Koroni, Vasilitsi and Chrysokelaria, is distant from existing EKAB zones.

To meet increased summer demand, six ambulance staff from the EKAB Athens sector will be reassigned to Loggia, operating a 24‑hour ambulance daily from June through September. The ministry also noted that primary health care in the region is provided by regional clinics in Loggia, Militsa, Petalidi and Charokopio, with rotating general‑medicine doctors covering 10‑15 days per month. Two support positions—a nursing aide and an administrative officer—were hired at the Messenia Health Centre in May 2026.

The future opening of a health centre in the municipality of Aipeia will be reconsidered under the new national health map, which will assess real needs before any final decision.
