Greek health region posts 15 rural doctor openings in Rethymno

The 7th Health Region of Crete has released a second invitation of interest for the 2026 recruitment of rural doctors (both mandatory and non‑mandatory) to staff health centres and regional hospitals in the Rethymno area. The notice follows a March call that placed seven new rural physicians in specific centres, including the Health Centre of Spili, the Regional Hospital of Pigi, the Regional Hospital of Episkopi, the Health Centre of Pérama, the Regional Hospital of Agía Galíni and the Health Centre of Anogeíon.

The current invitation covers fifteen positions distributed among the Regional Hospital of Melambon, Regional Hospital of Akoumia, Multi‑purpose Regional Hospital of Plakia, Regional Hospital of Armenon, Regional Hospital of Argyrópoli, Regional Hospital of Rustikon, the Health Centre of Pérama, Regional Hospital of Choumerion, Regional Hospital of Drosía, the Health Centre of Agía Foteiní, Regional Hospital of Meróna, Regional Hospital of Fourfoura, Regional Hospital of Nithauris, Regional Hospital of Prasón and the Regional Hospital of Goniá. All positions are classified as non‑obligatory with increased financial incentives. Applications are accepted from 25 June to 8 July 2026, 15:00.

Greek MP Giannis Kefalogiannis said the new invitation “continues the ongoing effort to staff the health structures of Rethymno.” He noted earlier calls in November and January that filled eight permanent doctor posts and indicated a forthcoming call for permanent doctors to further strengthen primary‑care facilities.
