Greek Ministry of Development extends elevator registration deadline, allows penalty‑free filing until July 2027
The Ministry of Development has amended the law governing the National Elevator Registry to create a transitional filing period that runs until 10 July 2027. The amendment clarifies that the original deadline of 30 June 2026 was not merely extended but that a technical solution is provided: owners, managers or maintenance firms may submit registrations for both existing and new elevators without incurring a fine, provided a responsible declaration from at least one owner or legal representative is included.
Elevators installed after 1 June 2026 must be entered in the registry within 90 days by the installer. After that period the entry is deemed late and subject to administrative fines. The fines, once the transition ends, are set at €1,000 per elevator for residential buildings, €500 for commercial or mixed‑use buildings, and €5,000 for elevators serving the public.
The amendment also codifies the registration procedure, suspends penalty enforcement during the transition, and mandates the Directorate for Safety and Compliance of Industrial Products to oversee implementation. The industry association POMIDA has called for the platform to remain permanently operational so that future elevators can be registered continuously.
