Greek island bookings surge as August holiday prices rise
Pre‑bookings for short‑term rentals during the peak week of 15 August are reaching near‑full capacity, with island occupancy hitting about 94% and top destinations such as Santorini (92%), Paros (91%), Mykonos (90%) and Skiathos (90%). Prices have risen 6‑11% compared with last year; a four‑night stay for a family of four now starts at €820 on Andros and climbs to €2,200 in Mykonos.
The rise in ferry ticket costs and accommodation prices is prompting many families to shift toward mainland coastal spots. Pre‑bookings on the mainland are also strong, notably in Halkidiki (93%) and Parga (91%), where a four‑night stay ranges from €650 in Akrata to €1,180 in Halkidiki. "Ο Δεκαπενταύγουστος αποτελεί διαχρονικά την κορυφή της θερινής τουριστικής περιόδου στην Ελλάδα," said Temistoklis Bakas, president of the Nationwide Real Estate Network.
