To manage the rush, Hellenic Police implemented enhanced road safety measures, including increased patrols and restrictions prohibiting trucks exceeding 3.5 tons from entering inbound lanes during peak hours. Following the August 15 holiday, the focus shifted to the return of travelers to Attica. Significant traffic congestion was reported on the Athens-Corinth National Highway, particularly between Megara and Nea Peramos, while the Athens-Lamia route remained relatively clear. Police data recorded approximately 58,051 vehicles returning to Attica during a 12-hour period on August 16. By the final week of August, heavy traffic persisted at Piraeus, Rafina, and Lavrio ports.
