Greek Justice Minister George Floridis accuses opposition of undermining constitutional revision

Justice Minister George Floridis defended the New Democracy‑backed proposal to revise Greece’s constitution, describing it as a modern solution to the country’s challenges. He said the opposition parties have launched a campaign to discredit the process, characterising their actions as a "self‑dissolution" of the opposition. Floridis criticised PASOK for refusing to vote on its own proposals and noted that SYRIZA has effectively disappeared after merging with a party outside parliament. He recalled the broad consensus achieved during the 2001 constitutional revision and warned that voters will decide the fate of the current debate in the next election.

The minister’s remarks were made during a parliamentary session, emphasizing what he described as an unprecedented number of independent MPs and a fragmented opposition landscape.
