Two days later Justice Minister George Floridis defended the revision proposal, characterising opposition criticism as an effort to “self‑dissolve” the opposition. He accused PASOK of refusing to vote on its own proposals and noted that SYRIZA had effectively disappeared after merging with an external party, emphasizing the fragmented opposition and the historic consensus achieved during the 2001 revision. Floridis warned that voters will decide the fate of the debate in the next election, underscoring the government's determination to advance the constitutional changes despite political resistance.
