Greek Left Coalition outlines political program and criticizes government
Alexis Tsipras has outlined the political program for the Greek Left Coalition (ELAS), aiming for government and political change. The former Prime Minister presented 20 key messages, framing the upcoming elections as a choice between ‘Honesty versus Corruption.’ His economic platform, set to be officially presented at the Thessaloniki International Fair on September 2, focuses on taxing wealth and providing relief to the middle class through measures such as the abolition of the professional fee and the reinstatement of the property tax.
Simultaneously, the Greek Left Coalition has launched a sharp political attack against Minister of State Akis Skertsos regarding the recent wildfires in Chalkidiki. The coalition accused Skertsos of ‘statistical alchemy’ and premature celebrations after he estimated the fire had burned approximately 3,500 acres—representing 1% of the region. ELAS criticized the government for attempting to downplay the destruction and focusing on political comparisons rather than the immediate needs of those affected by the fires.
