Peristeri: Military doctor alleges poisoning by ex-wife

A 41-year-old military doctor from Peristeri has come forward to allege that his former wife attempted to poison him with atropine over a period of 1.5 years. The doctor reported that the substance was administered through his food and water at home.

The prolonged poisoning led to severe health complications, including four hospitalizations. The doctor stated he was hospitalized three times in psychiatric clinics and once in a medical ward, where he required intubation. He noted that the unexplained symptoms led him to believe he was suffering from a psychiatric disorder, which eventually prompted him to request a transfer to a less demanding unit within the Air Force to manage his health.

Suspicion arose following a meal at a restaurant where he experienced immediate symptoms after consuming water. The doctor’s mother was also reportedly affected by the poisoning, experiencing hallucinations due to incorrect diagnoses. The doctor’s child is reported to be healthy and is currently living with the doctor’s parents. The family is calling for exemplary punishment for the accused.
