Greek Minister Akis Skertso Announces 19,750 New Affordable Homes under Agenda 2030

Minister of State Akis Skertso said Greece has achieved 100 % absorption of the EU Recovery Fund and is advancing the “Agenda 2030” plan. He announced the immediate construction or renovation of 19,750 affordable housing units, which will benefit nearly 60,000 people and provide more than 8,500 student dormitory places. Skertso noted that over 24,000 households have already obtained homes through the “My House 1 and 2” programme. The minister highlighted that the government now has all the tools needed to increase the supply of low‑rent properties and to move to the next phase of the housing strategy, while also pursuing broader reforms for a more productive economy, a modern state and a stronger international presence.

Skertso also addressed opposition criticism on rule‑of‑law issues, corruption and the executive model, reaffirming the New Democracy government’s stance on upcoming electoral coalition scenarios and its focus on tackling inflation, reducing taxes and bureaucracy, and rationalising tax revenue policy.
