Greek Minister Domna Michailidou Announces Expanded Housing Aid and Disability Support Measures

Minister Domna Michailidou presented a comprehensive housing package that includes refunding two months of rent to public servants stationed away from home, new criteria for renovation grants covering up to 95% of costs, and the creation of social‑rented homes on public land. The plan also expands the relocation subsidy programme to the Florina and Kastoria regions, offering €10,000 (half in advance) to families moving permanently.

In a separate initiative, the Personal Assistant programme for people with disabilities will be made permanent and nationwide, increasing eligible beneficiaries from about 1,800 to 3,600. Selection will shift from a lottery to objective scoring based on social and economic criteria, and the Disability Card will be made accessible to all disability‑benefit recipients, easing bureaucratic barriers.
