Greek Minister Schoinas Announces Over €20 Billion for Agriculture Over Next Five Years

Greek Agriculture Minister Margaritis Schoinas said that more than €20 billion will be made available to support the primary sector during the next five years. The funding will back three main pillars: restoring reliability of the payment system, negotiating the new Common Agricultural Policy and promoting investment in agriculture. Schoinas highlighted the need for greater national flexibility, reduced bureaucracy and stable planning to raise the added value of Greek farm products, increase producers’ income and strengthen their presence in international markets.

He stressed that the reforms are already under way and called on producers to place confidence in the process, noting that the substantial resources aim to modernise the sector and ensure smooth implementation of upcoming changes.
