Greek Ministry allocates €4.9 million to support fenugreek growers

Deputy Minister of Rural Development and Food Thanasīs Kavvadīs announced that the government will allocate an additional €4.9 million to the de‑minimis support scheme for fenugreek (μηδική) producers. The money comes from unspent allocations of the original €34 million programme, of which roughly €29 million had already been disbursed.

The new funding targets growers in the regional units of Ilia, Phthiotis, Kilkis, Thessaloniki, Florina and Pella, who meet the criteria set out in the joint ministerial decision. The aid is tax‑free, non‑seizable and non‑assignable. Earlier, nearly €30 million had been paid to producers in 16 regions, while the Drama region was excluded because the first confirmed case of goat‑and‑sheep pox occurred after the fenugreek harvest period.
