Greek Ministry Announces 5,487 Permanent Teacher Posts for 2026

Greece’s Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports has published the final allocation of 5,487 permanent teaching positions for the 2026‑2027 school year. The breakdown includes 2,403 posts for general primary education, 309 for special primary education, 910 for general secondary education (about 160 philologists and 20 mathematicians) and 1,303 for special secondary education (about 180 philologists and 540 mathematicians). Additional appointments cover 92 music teachers and 470 members of the special educational staff (EEPs‑EBPs).

The ministry’s decision, expected within days, is the last substantive step before candidates who succeeded in the ASEP examinations are invited to submit regional preference statements. After the preference phase, final appointment tables will be released and the newly appointed teachers will be placed in schools before the start of the new academic year.
