Greece strengthens tourism through education and Spain partnership

Greece is advancing its tourism sector through new educational and international partnerships. The Greek Ministry of Tourism has signed a programmatic agreement with the University of Piraeus to develop comprehensive educational materials for its training institutions, including the Schools of Higher Vocational Training (SAEK), Higher Schools of Tourism Education (ASTE), and Schools of Tourist Guides. This initiative aims to modernize tourism training by integrating sustainable development, innovation, and digital tools to meet evolving industry needs.

In a separate bilateral move, Spain and Greece have signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen cooperation in the tourism sector. Signed by Spanish Minister of Industry and Tourism Jordi Hereu and Greek Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni, the five-year agreement focuses on seven key areas: international cooperation, information exchange, tourism investment, tourism promotion, innovation and digitalization, professional education and training, and cooperation within international organizations such as UN Tourism. The partnership seeks to address challenges like destination saturation and promote triple sustainability across economic, social, and environmental dimensions.
