Greek academic and tourism sector internationalization

Overview

Greek academic and governmental institutions are focusing on internationalization and specialized training to bolster national sectors. A joint committee will be created to oversee progress and coordinate efforts within international organizations such as the UN World Tourism Organization.

Additionally, the ‘Tourism Cares: Unite for Cleaner Destinations’ environmental initiative is expanding from Cyprus to Greece. Included in the UN Tourism programme for World Tourism Day 2026, the campaign focuses on reducing single-use plastics and organizing cross-border clean-up activities involving tourism businesses and volunteers to tackle waste in beaches, coastlines, and seabeds.
