Greek Ministry to allocate 5,467 permanent teacher posts in 2026
The Greek Ministry of Education is set to announce the distribution of 5,467 permanent teaching positions for the 2026 school year. The allocations cover primary education (estimated 2,600‑2,800 posts), secondary education (estimated 2,200‑2,400 posts) and special education staff (about 500 posts). The official breakdown by subject and grade is expected to be released within the coming week.
Following the allocation, regional authorities will issue statements on permanent appointments in August. Simultaneously, temporary tables for hiring substitute teachers for the 2026‑2027 school year will be published. From 13 to 15 July, candidates may submit correction requests through the OPSYD system for the relevant recruitment calls. The ministry plans to issue the final ministerial decision and publish it in the government gazette by the end of July, with appointed teachers slated to commence duties in August ahead of the new academic term.
