Greek municipalities approve new disability‑focused creative centres

The municipal committee of Agios Nikolaos approved the tender terms for converting an abandoned school in Flamourianá, Messa Lakonias, into a Center for Creative Occupation of Children with Disabilities (KDPAP). The project, budgeted at €295,000, will provide accessible classrooms, therapy rooms, a multi‑use hall, specialised transport and energy‑efficient upgrades as part of the Crete 2021‑2027 regional development programme.

In Athens, the Haidari municipality announced that applications for its own KDPAP open on 1 July 2026 and close on 17 July. The programme serves children aged 5‑12, offering sports, arts and social‑skills activities. Registration can be made online or in person at the town hall, with fees scaled to family income. Accepted children will be exempt from the Summer Camp programme fee.

Both initiatives aim to enhance social inclusion, skill development and support for children with disabilities and their families across Greece.
