Greek municipalities coordinate school preparations for new academic year

Local authorities in Greece are coordinating efforts to prepare for the upcoming 2026–2027 school year. In Lasithi, the Secondary Education Directorate has held a series of meetings with the mayors of Agios Nikolaos, Sitia, and Ierapetra. These discussions focused on ensuring the smooth and safe operation of schools, addressing infrastructure needs, and coordinating maintenance and repairs to support students and educators.

In Kalamata, Mayor Thanasis Vasilopoulos met with primary and secondary school directors, educators, and parents to discuss organizational, administrative, and financial matters. During these meetings, a new digital platform was introduced to allow school directors to log and manage requests sent to the municipality. Additionally, officials provided updates on maintenance and upgrade works completed during the summer break and those scheduled for the coming period.
